brake issue

Whenever I brake moderatly hard or even harder while moving above 30 or so mph my brake warning light comes on.
However, lighter braking or pushing the brake in as hard as I can when stopped does not trigger the light. I haven't felt anything wrong with the brakes regardless of the light being on, the fluid is full, no leaks, no problems that I've noticed. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

The brake light means that the fluid level is low.
For me, that meant that the rear brakes were completely wore out, and so when you break hard, the rear wheel cylinders fill up and take the reservoir down to make the light come on, then when you let off, after a few moments the light goes off. I'd check the condition of the rear brakes, and make sure both reservoirs are filled properly.

Yes, B210s have a low-fluid-level warning sensor. skinnykid, do you have a newer ute? The 1971-1973 Datsun 1200s don't have a level sensor.
So that the fluid level problem B210sleeper mentioned doesn't occur, you can manually adjust the rear brakes every 6-12 months. The pedal should be high and tight, with little play. Datsun 1200's have an excellent pedal feel (at least the disc brake models do).

I think the pedal feel on my 81 with wilwood brakes is verymuch like my 96 subaru impreza outback sport.
A firm stomp gets you stopping and 2 stomps really gets you stoping better than toyota brakes where you stop entirely too quick..]

Rule out the easy stuff first, is this the same light for the handbrake? if ti is , how much crap and change etc. is in the way? lol Quote:

i mean 2 because the first stomp is setting up for the actual braking.
the brakes are very good, so good I need to look into getting more use out of them. Need to go to track days soon. Even with the wilwood brakes, the stock brake master cylinder works fine, enough friction to hold the car at a stop with a very light touch. You can view topic.
