#1 Scanned in Datsun Sunny Workshop Manual
Mildman Posted on: 2006/5/19 15:22
Hey all

I got really inspired a while ago to work out how to use my scanner and ofd writer to make a fully text searchable workshop manual.

I was sucessful with the B310 Datsun Sunny manual After many interations I have got the 300 page manual down to about 14MB and you can copy and paste from it, hit Ctrl-F and find any text in it at all, it's pretty cool.

Anyway the point is I'd love to share it but can't afford the bandwidth on my own humble webpage - and I thought I'd check if anyone else was interested.

I can upload it wherever, just don't have the facility to offer it for download.

Any takers....?

By the way, heres a sample.
2. TO CHECK IGNITION AND
ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS
(1) Switch on the ignition and check for warning
lamp illumination.
(2) Operate the starter switch and check that the
starter rotates the engine at a steady speed.
(3) Switch on the headlamps and check for good
light intensity.
Should the lamps not illuminate 0.r the starter motor
not turn the engine, carry out the following action:
(a) Remove the battery terminals and clean both
terminals and posts. Refit the terminals and tighten
firmly but not excessively.
(b) Check that the earth lead from the battery to
the engine and body frame is not broken and that the connections
are clean and secure.
(c) Check that the lead from the battery to the
starter motor or starter solenoid is intact and with a clean
and secure connection.
(d) Where necessary carry out repairs to (b) and
(c). Again carry out the check procedure. Should the
starter motor still not operate, or the lamps illuminate,
then one or more of the following faults may be the
cause:
No starter motor operation or lights: Battery flat or
defective.
Lights illuminate but no starter operation: Starter
motor drive jammed in mesh with flywheel ring gear.
Starter motor or solenoid defective.

hey MM,
Why don't you upload this to the "downloads" section? Apparently the site will take large files because there are a couple of 15+ Meg manuals there already. That would make it easier for someone to locate instead of searching for this thread and link.

Here is the appropriate page: downloads -> manuals

Mildman, thanks for taking all the time to do this. With the exception of my steering wheel being on the wrong side, I hope it will be invaluable in helping me work on my car.

B11sleeper, thanks for hosting the file. I hoep you don't mind me snooping around at your photos.

I'll have a go at the upload mperdue...will see what happens.

Hope you all get something out of it. Next on the list to scan will be the 1200 WS Manual

--edit I submitted it to the downloads area of this site...will see what happens.
