Yeah, pretty much all side draught carbs are the same... but you can't get parts the same! weber is still in business, so go with the webers. I have a pair of Dellorto 40's
and next to impossible to find parts, like jets, gaskets, floats,etc.etc. mikuni was a factory option on some datsun models, but they are no longer either!

actually I found a mob in the UK who deal with dellorto parts but I almost fell off my chair once I got a quote for all the little bits and pieces that you need to buy to do a full overhaul and rejett

It wasnt actually that bad for me, i got a full overhaul of both my carbs: acid bathed, re jetted, syncronised, new gaskets/seals, throttle shafts checked etc. and new brackets/linkages made up all for $250. I bought the carbs for $300 with manifold so its pretty good compared to plp selling a pair for over $500

If you ask your local good parts store they should be able to get in jets and gaskets for dellortos (what i have) webers etc.

I just bought full kits for dellortos the other day from the carby shop for $44 each. Not expensive and not hard to find parts for.

Urban myths... ive also been told weber went out of business, because they cant sell the stuff, whatever...

In Italy you can get Dellorto jets/airs/chokes/kits/screws even floats... also can get vinyl gaskets for turbo applications.

I recently got a whole heap of stuff including new jets and 4 rebuild kits cost me $85 to my door.
