Hello all as some of probably recall i had a cracked head on my a14 well i recieved the new one in the mail today and noticed some differences most notably the ports http://community.webshots.com/photo/2648116240025999729IoYdKa,..so i was wondering what i need to do now,im working on a 2 day a week income so what im really wondering is can i use the round port intake on this oval port head until i can get an oval port intake

I guess you can use it for now. I have seen the same thing with A15 heads. The intake on some are round and on others its oval. My uncle had the same problem and used an oval head that didn't come with his motor. All he did was to get an intake that macthed the intake ports on the head.Let me know if you need any help.

I tried your link, without success, so perhaps you could have another look at that.

Place an oval port gasket against the manifold to confirm that it does not leave any gaps in the wrong places & if it's all good, then you should be right to go.

On the upside, you have the better head, so the minor inconvenience of sourcing another manifold should eventually yield a better performing engine.

and yes i did that with the gasket it seems the round ports are a bit lower than the ovals so a little gasket trimming should do the trick

Did you put it and make sure that it seals it up completely?

yeah drifter did the best i could,its all bolted back on now all i have to do is figure out how to put the rest of it back together,man sure wish i would have written this stuff down or drew rudamentary pictures or such but,live and learn. thanks for the comments
