pepper Posted on: 2006/10/25 9:33
im thinkin of gettin a road bike. ive brought the choice down to either a gsxr 600 or a yammi r6.
im torn between the 2 so id like other peoples opinions or experiences with either of these bikes.
oh, im gonna go brand new too..

I'm heavily biased .... Triumph Daytona 675 Awesome induction growl !!
If you MUST have one of these jappers
I'd go for the gixxer - only cause I've ridden a K3 1000 and it was pretty sweet.
Up to you dude, whichever feels best on the test ride !!
Cheers

The suzuki is a top bike this year it always has been each year, but either the yam or suzuki will be so good it would take a hell of alot of time to pick the differences on the road and track.
Back in 2004 I bought a spankin Kawasaki ZX-6R 636 and it wasn't an easy choice either, the reason I chose it over the other 4 (Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha and Triumph) Was the colour, the seat comfort and the midrange power.
I think as long as you feel comfortable and like the colour and are happy with the brakes, engine performance and handling you can't go wrong.
One thing for sure is it won't be an easy choice as either bike is top notch in every respect.
One thing I remember reading about the R6 is the bogus 17500RPM redline, it will hit the redline on the tacho but it is actually only 15600RPM when measured on an aftermarket tachometer

Damn you queenslanders and that Q-ride program!!!! I bought a suzi GSF250V (std 40hp limted jap spec) 6 weeks ago and I am bored $hitless already. (Still a fair bit quicker than the datto tho )

Here's one out of left field- If you want something with a bit of midrange & better ergo, you can get some pretty damn good deals on the VTR1000 firestorm now that it has been discontinued...... 88kW of v-twin joy..... and the numbers go up a fair bit with some cans and a carby kit

I agree that the firestorm is good value and sounds horn but lousy fuel tank - they have very limited range for a litre bike
If I was to buy a track/road toy I would seriously consider the Gixxer 750 - haven't heard any bad reports, good midrange !!! and no one can use all the HP from a litre bike
Again, go for the one that fits you best - they're all good !!
Cheers

it really depends on what year..
i have owned a 2004 gsxr600 and i loved it to bits... but
if ur going a 2006 u can't go past the r6 for looks... damn that dumped exhaust is sexy...
