GX air filter. Now available.

A little while ago, Benny was asking me about stock GX air filter elements & where to get them. I had bought nine of them back in the early 80's for $1 each, but only had two left & they were both used.
Being the ever resourceful fellow that he is, he borrowed the one at the bottom of the picture & went to see those nice people at Uni Filter to see if they could help. He was greeted with open arms as they are confirmed Datsun fans, so anyone who comes to them for help with a classic Datsun is already ahead on points, but they had also been unable to get their hands on a sample of an original Datsun 1200 GX filter to use as a pattern for one of their own replacement types, so he was doubly welcome. As a result of Benny's desire to use a GX induction, ALL 1200 & 120Y GX owners, or users of these GX inductions can now source a replacement Uni Filter air filter element, & yes, that's one of the first two that they made, in the plastic bag. I got in early to avoid the rush. The Part number is plain to see, but for the optically challenged, it's UL 300 - 54S, available to customers order wherever Uni Filter air filters are sold. Thanks Benny, our Datsun world is just a little bit better now. ![]()

I don't know if they would fit, but the internal dimentions of the stock one are
Length = 241mm Width = 92mm Thickness = 53mm Hopefully this is of some help The sample filter is not a 'Genuine' part but a Japanese replacement made by SP [Part No. SP - 674] & it also carries the Datsun part number. [16546 - H2300] They fitted my GX airbox just fine, so I presume that they are exactly the same as the originals. The Unifilter has smaller internal dimentions simply because of the soft foam construction, but this foam will cause no real problem if you stick with the dimentions above.

Would anyone happen to have a stock GX air box they are willing to part with?
If not, I may build an all aluminum box. Any suggestions? Will the 80's model Subaru filter work in the GX box? Seems to me like it was close in dimensions, but not positive. Mike
