hi.
i recently purchased a datsun 120y with a 14A engine, im trying to iron out some bugs which it seems to have. we have been fiddling with the carby today and got it to run a hell of a lot better than it was. im after some information regarding makes and models of parts, part numbers etc. what brand is the carby? i cant seem to find any defining stampings on it, apparently it is a carby from an 1100 cc engine but im not 100% sure, its a twin throat pregressive carburetor, secondly does anyone know the part numbers and good brands of the rotor button and contact points? and also the make of the dissy and recomended timing settings? is there a good option as an aftermarket carby and manafold kit commonly used? webber? dellorto? what plugs do you recomend? and what heat range? can u recomend an aftermarket air cleaner? the one i have is damaged.....or am i better off buying another stock cleaner from a wreckers? thanks for your help. Nick

Go to the wreckers and pull all the stuff from a 120Y.
Get the recommended replacement parts from any spare parts shops. An A14 is not a race motor. It just needs the factory recommended parts. You may need to drill out the main jets using a small drill, known as number drills. If you post pictures of the carby, I'm sure someone could help, but learning how to post pictures here is not easy in this day of megapixel cameras. Cheers, Chris

It is a hitachi carb. Does it have a anti-diesel solenoid? The A12 96 primary jet and 136 secondary will be too small, you need 104 primary and 140 secondary. You should be able to find jets in a sunny with a A14.
Stick with the original air cleaner assm. As for p/no's, do you know if its a hitachi dizzy or lucas, points/condensor and other bits differ between the two. The breaker plate on a lucus is riveted and the hitachi one is screwed on. The hitachi dizzy is a much better unit. NGK plugs BPE5S
