I don't know who 'they' are, but 'they' made an error or two
The Aussie model Sunny [B310] was discontinued in 1981, so finding a mid 80's example will be difficult. The Aussie spec B310 Sunny did NOT come with a five speed. According to one of our members, some five speed equiped coupes were sold somewhere up north [Queensland?] right at the end of the model run & i suspect that these might have been Japspec cars that were landed either accidentally, so rebadged & sole to avoid returning them, or possibly on purpose to simply sell off the last cars. Either way, it is believed that a small number were sold. A very small number. The five speed is not covered in the latest edition of the factory workshop manual for the Aussie spec Sunny.

Use the search function on the side mate - or try the .Tech Section 5 speed conversions have been covered in detail in there.
Original 5 speeds come up for sale from time to time but you'll be looking at $1000+ for them now, check out the posts on toyota boxes they're cheap and strong - conversion kits come up for sale from time to time or you can order the kit from dellow automotive.

Pretty common to see A series 5-speeds for sale in NZ now. Most (all?) A14 (dog-leg 1st) and A15 (facelift/std pattern) powered B310/Sunnys had them and most of the cars themselves have succumbed to tinworm now. Typical price is NZ$500 max. Come to NZ with a large empty suitcase! Search Trademe.co.nz.
