#1 Is anyone running a 13/16 master cyl w/out a booster?

I'm considering swapping my 11/16 master clyinder for a B310 13/16 one. But, I can't be assed fitting up the booster. (plus I got bugger all vaccuum anyway)
Are any of you using the larger master cylinder without a booster? is the pedal unacceptabely heavy?

yep i took the booster off cause of the lack of feel for racing....then again my car is well overbraked with Wilwood spot ultralights and discs up front.

be careful with masters that are designed for use with boosters. especially aftermarket parts.

some rely on the booster to seal up and hold pressure.

Sounds promising. I have a pair of spare 13/16 cylinders laying around. I'm running u13 bluebird rear discs and calipers, and will at some stage be fitting 910 front struts and brakes. So I'm thinking more cylinder might be good.
At 130mph, the standard front brakes are too too dodgey.

Do you think that a B310 unit which originally had a booster would be okay without it?

i dont know.

only 1 way to find out i guess.

i had a lot of trouble with aftermarket cylinders, and ended up going back to 11/16

with good results

Sorry for hijacking the thread.Just have a question also with regard to boosters.
I have noticed when I am REALLY driving hard and gearing down I press thebrake pedal and with the heel of my right foot blimp the throttle before letting the clutch out so that the revs equals the gear.If you know what I mean.
Ok, with the datsun it is easy.Revs jump quite quickly and this procedure does'nt upset the braking due to no booster.
With the VW golf, the booster is not so strong and I can get it right without too much upsetting of the brakes.
With the Nissan Almera (Pulsar N16) it just does'nt work. Revs is quick but when blimping the throttle the brakes once almost locked up because the booster is so strong and sensative.

Is this also why racers don't use boosters.Making the brakes to sensative?

I think it has something to do with some boostered brake systems being quite "grabby". Without a booster the driver has better feel and control than with a booster.

This is true. I can definately feel more control with the datto. The boosted cars tend to make live difficult with racing type conditions.
I would say go the 13/16 in your application without a booster and see how it feels.Only trial and error will tell.
