Hi 55 -- you can get the 77s from our friends at Bprojects: Bprojects - Datsun1200.com Wiki. Their shipping cost is reasonable to USA.

That reminds me, my great-great-grandfather 'Pegleg' Gonzales, had a '55 Studebaker (1855). He was a miner, which is how the family fortune was made. But you've all heard the story a hundred times, so I'll be quiet now.

No, I dont have a Studebaker. It's a 55 Chevy Del Rey. A12 piston's are sold out on the Bprojects website. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

If you have an A12, & being in the US I presume it's the 1200 engine [front dist.] then you can source the 77mm pistond from your friendly Nissan parts counter or from a national parts supplier. They are the second oversize for the A14 engine which is 76mm standard, so two oversizes at a half mill each makes it 77.
The downside is that they use a larger wrist pin diameter which can be fixed in one of two ways. Method A. Have the rods machined out in the small end. This is what I did 25 years ago when I ran a big bore in my 1200 engine. Method B. Source a set of rods from the A12A that was used in some US model 210's [B310] These are the right length & have the right small end diameter, but use pistons of 75mm diameter. It looks like you're cutting it fine with the 1300 class as 77mm will yeild 1303.855cc while your preffered size of 76.85mm would yeild 1298.78cc.

I wonder if it was of the Conestoga, covered style, or one of their workhorse commercial offerings, or perhaps even a sporty little Surrey, depending on where he lived & if he had made his pile yet. For those that haven't twigged, Studebaker made horse drawn vehicles from the early 19th century [1800's], long before the invention of the internal combustion engine & the Studebaker automobiles.

somebody was listening. It was just a mining wagon, he pushed it along rails... Hi '55, Why 77mm? Are you racing in the GT5 class or something? If so, send email to Peter Zekert, he'll put you in touch with the right sellers.

apparently you can buy cheap volkswagon blank pistons then get them machined to the exact sepcs you want. just a surgestion but this way you can chose the compression rasio to.
