r31 diff gears? help me out ppl

aye ppl
ok so i'm ordering a shortened r31 skyline diff and want to know what diff gears to run in it in my ute. so at the moment i'm running a ca18t with the standard s13 gearbox and the standard 1200 ute diff and at 100kph it revs at 3grand and i would like it to be around 1800 to 2000 revs at 100kph does anyone know what diff gears i should run in the r31 cheers matty

i have a 3.9 and that gives me about 2700 @ 100kmh

To get those sort of rpm at 100, you will need around 3.00:1 which will make it a pain to drive when taking off.
Me thinks you should forget about those sort of rpm, thats for bigger motors with more torque. It will take forever to get it onto boost and will only be good for high speed, which as you may know is a little floaty in a little car like a 1200. Try going for something around 3.45:1 from a vl commodore as a compromise without losing drivability

I run a 25 spline 3.45 in my CA18/1200, and it's a bit boggy down low, but was good for the drive from sydney to melbourne.
I'm moving back to 3.7:1 which I reckon for a 1200 street car is a great compromise. I think even 3.9 is getting a bit high with larger diameter wheels/tyres, but for drag racers, they may prefer a 3.9 or 4.1.

Im running 4.1 in mine but find it reving a bit to high even in fifth guna switch back to 3.9 or 3.7 soon

man how fast u wanna go ha, but i bet urs handles a bit better than mine ( mine feels dodgy at 110 ha) oi just thinking is urs the hiflow datsun with the masive front mount? becuase if it is i seen u at the grog shop i was in my wagon

and how fast do i want to go? the speed of light haha just wanted to know what diff gears everone is using na man thats popeye's ute and he copied my intercooler set up no point having a small cooler go big my ute is blue man and might try have a dotto meet this weekend if the weather fines up check the( meetings thread)You can view topic.
