ok i know i just said that i was going to put the ca18det in my ute but yesterday i came across a silvia with a sr20de in it and i can pick it up for around 500-$700 only bad thing is its auto but for this price ill have a lot of stuff i need. i have a few q's for everyone

can i use the diff from the silvia and shorten it
like people do with the r31

can the drive shaft be shorted to fix...

and can the sr20 be fitted to the r30 box

and how much more work is it goin to be to fit the sr insted of the ca18 ive hurd that u need to chop out some stuff

any help would be great im going to buy it today in 9 hrs so as much help before than would be great

thanks

ok a slivia (crashed) with a good sr20de and 5 speeed box goes for around a grand . if the silvia is not crashed thats a realy good price

the diff in a silvia is inderpendent so no good for your needs and its not lsd only the turbos are lsd .

the tail sharft is two piece in a silvia so you can only use the end ( yok )

ask maddat on wats involved but i would thinkl the tunnel is the only thing on the chopping block

the sr20de is a slow motor in a silvia it only does a 16.4 standing quarter mile if i was you and was happy with the power of a sr20de i would just get a A15

i made the mistake of thinking a ca18de would be good enoff but it only lasted a week way to slow

my 2 cents

I've got a mate with a dead standard SR20DE in his 1600. At Mt Cotton it has run a best of around 48.7. The fastest any datsun with worked A series engines has ever gone there is the wrong side of 50 seconds.

sounds like a good buy if it's still running.

it's pretty much the same as a ca18det swap. the sr inlet manifold may hit on the brake master cylinder if u have a brake booster..

yea non turbos are great around a track but i was talking on a drag , i would think my a15 would ezy chop a sr20de any day and with all that extra weaight i would have to ask why bother

yeah, an SR20de powered Datsun that will beat the wildest A15 powered 1200 at a tight twisty hillclimb will loose to them on a qtr mile

for the amount of stuffing around to get both motors in the ca18det is more powerful and the only way to go i think/ unless your on your p plates or something ???

i dunno about these sr20de and a15 claims there perthute..
Homer i think off this website hs a sr20de in his and he posted some vids, it didnt seem like a slouch to me????
id be putting my money on a sr20de having it in spades over an a15.

well i mean my a15 i got of sidedraft

but on the other hand my dat 1000 wags with the a14 nothing special and i had a drag with my mates silvia sr20de and we where side by side up to 80 kmph

from memory a sr20de has 97 kws and a a15 standard has 60kws but with mods you could close the power gap

but the sr20 is a very heavy motor

does any one know a 1/4 mile time of a sr20de in a datto 1200

i remember see a 1600 wit one at the drags and 16 flat was the best he got ??
