1 - no. 56A are for 56A boxes only. Same with 60s and 63s
2 - Yes 3 - There is no such thing as a 63A 4 spd as far as I know (for A series anyway). Hate to break it to you, but if a 5 speed solution was this easy, it would be widely known by now Pepper - I think he means everything forward of the sandwich plate.

TnP has pretty much nailed it. Tomorrow I'm going to fit my A series 63 bellhousing onto an L series gearbox. I spent $200 patching up my extra rooted 63, but now it's fully fisted, I'm swapping the front housing onto an L series 63 that only stung me $90.
God I love nissan, it's just like giant lego!

Unfortunately, A-series gearboxes don't have separate bell housings -- except for the automatic transmission.
As A14force mentions, the entire front housing contains the bell part. So it's not quite so simple to swap the parts.

The plot sickens, the L series spigot is bigger than the a series one. I'm going to have to either swap the one off my old box, or turn down the L series one off the donor box. I also found the bearing cups on the cluster bearings aren't flash. So my quick bell housing swap has turned into an overhaul. No biggie. My old box is beyond repair. I'm thinking that some of the bearings I replaced when I patched it up last time might be reuaseable.
