1000 update.
Posted on: 2008/3/16 4:20
well worked with cruizen yesterday on his 1000, got it running ok today, as always a few little hic ups like water leaks due to a corodded thermostat housing and dodgy hose clamp on heater pipe.
Thanks for all those that have assisted with parts or finding them so far. Looking for some info now. installed brake master cyl and pump the brakes to bleed them but to no avail. How hard is it to get new brake shoes(pads) and cyls for the drum brakes, 2 are leaking. Apart from that just need to chase some seats and possibly gurads still, otherwise some rust repairs are in order ala rat rod style to get some rego on it.

I got all the cylinder new no worries a little while back. The rear ones are the same as 1200 and 120Y ones and the 4 front ones are handed and fore and aft so make sure you get a matching set.
After i fitted my master cylinder it took ages to get the brakes to bleed well even once all the slave cylinders were replaced with new ones i found that by pumping up some pressure at thew pedal and chocking it down overnight helped get all the air out of the master cylinder.

Ive never had any problems bleeding a 1000. Even with shot cylinders it should get a semi pedal. Make sure you renew your flexi lines too! At that age the inside detirorates and forms a 1 way vavle!

well my wagon when i had it going it had no fluid in the cylinder and the pedal went in right to the floor and so i put fluid in couple of pumps and i had the best brakes! i didnt have to bleed them so i was happy!
