hi guys.. just wondering is it possible to fit L16 dogleg gearbox to A15 engine? if can be done, what are the modification needed? Thanks.

Sure, what they do is cut the bell off an A-series 4-speed, and weld it to the L-series 5-speed. Dunno if there are other mods needed.

Put the 2 boxes side by side and start measuring. Will also have to convert the clutch cable/hydraulic.


I have a feeling that the spigot may need attention. There is a differnet spline count, but your local clutch place should be able to sort a plate for you. Otherwise redrill the flywheel for an L series 200mm clutch setup.

When you have it sorted, I'll take 2 kits. Seriously.

Don't forget about the tailshaft.

Speedo cable will fit.

the main obstacle to overcome is getting your gearbox dead concentric with the bell housing before you weld it
if you have a small misalignment you can correct it with offset dowels
