#1 A15 not reving
tom210 Posted on: 2008/4/9 15:23
Hey everyone
I got the a15 in my 120y. I'm running an a12 head, a15 carb and exhaust manifold to std 120y exhaust system.. It runs, but won't seem to rev over 4.5k, could this possibly be because my exhaust is too restrictive? My timing is about 20-15 deg btdc

Cheers tom

Idle... I have played around with it varying from the standard 7-8 to roughly 20 where it sits now,

and it is still doing the same thing???? set it back to the 7 to 10 degree to get max torque and take air filter out. if that does not make any difference. unscrew a litle bitt the exhaust to see if it does make effect.

they r set mostly at a little bit of high rev. try to rev it up and see what degree you take. sry i didn't post this before the other one

Its a bit late in the night to go out and try right now, but yeah i'll do it in the morning, i have no where to unbolt the exhaust.. Its one piece to the end..

sry here it is the afternoon. i m amazed you have no flange from the manifold to the pipe and what happens if u need to get the engine out of the car

Oh yeah got one of those haha, except it'd be loud and sound like arse... And probably not give me a true indication if it is my system.. Its only 1am here so its not all bad..

there s no need to get it out, all u need is untinted it a litle bit. to release the back pressure. i m sure it will make a lot of sound but it will give you an indication.

A15 uses 1.5 inch exhaust, same as A12.

Too much. Set it back to 7-10 degrees.

By the way, a stock A15 should rev to about
4500, with no extra power if you rev it higher. But it should rev to 5000, if you hold your foot down. Add a Weber downdraft and she'll spin up to 6000 making power all the way...
