When these gearboxes break, what usually lets go?

Thanks, Simon.

Std/mild engine - nothing/not much.

Torquey/Modified engine - stripped gears - treat with care.

The later 120Y/Sunny version (1" clutch cable hole) is stronger than early 1200 version. Its gears are a bit wider and bearing set-up differs.

Never had a selecter issue, And i have pretty much no bushes left on the lever. Still smashes in beautifully!

No problems yet.. I bought a 56a box with a "Topgear" gear set some time back.
Im going to try it in the coupe and was interested to see even if the gearset has been changed what other issues i might have with it.

I`ll only have a standard box as a spare so
it might have to get me through a race or two. I`ll have to wind back the HP for that though.

topgears straight cut box?? goodluck on breaking it
its just the 56a casing he used for the lightweight of it the internals are all custom made by him so i dont think you will break it in a hurry!

I had balance shaft bearing failure in my 56A box, what started it off though was ONE flatshift gone wrong in my standard 120Y at the time. it acually lasted over a year like that until one arvo I went to impress some people and hit some dray road, the box went BANG!!! so i reselected and limped over to Ian's workshop
