Nah Go with a Ca18 turbo conversion into 1200. You can buy a kit off MADDAT and others. see the link for website and contact info.

check with an engineer first man in QLD where i live the limits are 1.8 forced induction or 2.4L NA for a ute well it was last time i checked anyway 12a=2.3L 13b=2.6L

yeah and they suck fuel like a V8 and cost a mint to fix when they blow seals etc. Truth is Rotors go hard but Piston engines can go just as hard and outlast them. But if its rotor you want convert a 12A they can be engineered in most states. Welcome to the site Forza. Reasonably new here myself.

Welcome, it is almost impossible to get anything other than a 12a engineered into a datto, and then you cant go forced induction. There are a few exceptions to this like the Maddat ute with the sr20det for example. Im not sure how they got around the rules but rotors just seem totally unacceptable.
Like andy said, if a new turbo engine is what your after, go the ca18det, maddat make all the bits to convert it with ease. If its the light weight your after maybe consider working and a15, you wont get the power of the ca but there a sh!tload lighter so drivability increases...

south australia is a little bit more leanient towards the sr20det. there is no pissiblity of fitting a 13bt legally in vic unless you were to remake a full body chassis. vic has similar regs as qld which means either a 12a rotary max or 1.8 turbo or 2 lt na....
but if it a drag car....sweet go for it.

Hi Forza and welcome.
Seriously the CA18 is the better option. you can get it road registered, they dont #### themselves after a few drives they outlast the rotors...besides have you not heard rotors belong on a BBQ not in a car!!?? its all good. if you have your heart set on a 13b then seriously make an appointment with an engineer and discuss the things you want to do and what they need you to do to the car itself instead of jumping in eyes closed go in with eyes wide open and consider all possibilties first. As frankie said if you only want a drag car then bugger all of the above stated and just do wateva you want to it!! And you have made a wise decision to join the datsun world of realists!!! even if u want a rotor!! Maddat make all the parts needed for a ca18 conversion that you will need, so you know that parts are going to be real easy to find. they are a dime a dozen!!!! Whether you go a road car or not and regardless of the engine DO NOT ruin a classic by putting on big modern rims and flashy paint jobs. Dont start the project if you are not going to finish it. its a big job and its costly to rebuild a car let alone a datsun. they take time and you need A LOT of patience
