Wise words. Firstly start by telling us a bit about the car and where you are from. Any pictures would be good. It will definately help in the overall assessment of the GX.

First make sure it's not full of body rot, then get everything back to good stock condition...........bushings, dampers, tires breaks and any engine/drive train issues. Once you have it mechnically sound and looking decent then start with some bolt on's. It sounds like you want to keep a period look. Find some nice wheels with the proper vintage look 13" jelly beans, Libres , Mini Lites etc. Then put on some anti sway bars. After that maybe some Recaro seats.........think bolt on items and keep the stock parts............there that should keep you busy for the next 3 years.

depends on how fast you want this thing to be

say as fast as a v6 commie is what i compair almost everything to
for a a12 to be as fast as a v6 commie it would need to be very worked so this probly isnt the best
move up to a14 or 15 if u can find one
big cam, carb, exhaust and its would be close
