32/36 idle blues

So I went for a long drive out to Avalon yesterday...pulling into the terminal the engine stalled, after that it would start fine but die when it went back to idle speed. I adjusted the speed screw to get home setting the idle as low as I could get it...but still running at about 2000 rpm and sounding crappy...it seemed also to slightly speed up and slow down of its own accord.Still it seemed to enjoy the highway back...not missing a beat until I pulled up at lights :/
After so long trying to get this thing tuned for the A12 I thought I finally had it in a good place...so before I go throwing it even more out from these settings, just thought id ask what is likely to have changed to cause this?

Check the idle circuit. Sounds like the idle main jet is plugged. Gives these symptoms, runs fine except at idle and just above idle.

"...it seemed also to slightly speed up and slow down of its own accord."
= probable air leak into manifold

This did make me suss that it could have been something else (its also running an electronic dizzy)...but I just put it down to the pressure from fuel pump as it was cyclic? Is there an easy way to unblock the idle jet...(also referred to in the wiki as the low speed jet?) without pulling the whole carby apart? Thanks.

Spot on ddiesel and aps. Turns out its a dodgy seal on the adapter...
Spose I better start hunting for gasket kits eh? Cheers

stuff hunting around town for a month of sundays for gaskets, just head to the auto parts store and buy a sheet of blank gasket sheet, they should have a few different types of material like cork, paper etc etc etc, in all kinds of thickness. mark out the outline, and cut it out. wallah, bobs your uncle.
i made some for the fuel bowls on my carbys(hitachi su's) and they came out like bought ones. i have some spares if anyone has been hunting for some. if worst comes to worse, just cut out a cornflakes box.

Sage advice pepper, was just wondering if this would be the way to go...is there much difference in the different types?...if so which would be better suited?
