Armistice Day

You don't find much of this sort of thing on the forum. I think it is important that people acknowledge its happening.
90 Years today. 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. I just read that New Zealand suffered the worst casualties of any other country involved. 100 000 were sent to the war.....from a population of 1.1 million people. That is a staggering figure. Of the 100 000 sent there, 18 000 died and 40 000 were wounded. The President of France said some great words. Here is my favourite extract: "As long as the memory of the great tragedies of the 20th century remain alive, no one will fear for the friendship that links people of Europe". There are still 4 people alive who fought in the 'war to end all wars'. Much respect to those people who were involved first-hand or second-hand. And well done to NZ for such an amazing commitment.
