Well with my A12 im having some issues with the car dieing going into 2nd gear, have replaced the carb which did fix the problem but now has come back,Its almost like the motor is flooding or somthing soon as i change into 2nd,havnt changed anything from the last time when it was running fine but cant figure what else it can be,The carb i put on was a brand new one that had all the factory settings so everything should have been set right,Anyone have some ideas?

A brand new carb will not be set correctly for you engine. After installation you must set idle speed and idle air/fuel mixture.
Also test your fuel pump & fuel filter combo.

Have you checked fuel pump pressure and volume flow? When the engine dies, shut the engine off immedately, coast to a stop, and look at the fuel level in the float bowl window. Most new carbs (rebuilt) I have bought have needed to be completely torn down and cleaned/correctly adjust everything!!

I have set all the float levels etc,But i still not 100% on the mixture adjustment screw, doesnt really give you a starting point for that in any of the articles ive found,I have got the car to run fine on the road,Get it to the race track and it plays up so its bloody hard to take it anywhere to give it a proper run before racing to see if it is fine,Also thinking prehaps timing could be playing a part as well

Before doing anything else, replace all fuel filters. In a 1200 there is usually only one, but check to see that a previus owner has not installed another back near the fuel tank.
A partially blocked filter will allow low performance operation where fuel flow is low, but the engine will die if it consumes fuel from the carb at a faster rate than the filter will flow.

Its a brand new filter in the car now, float level and all that is fine now,Its just a matter of tuning the needles, been having a play with it but cant get it to rev up without having a slight hesatation when it gets up do a few revs, not the secondy jet opening either as its not high enough in the revs for it to be opening
