#1 Arrrghhhh!! now what am I gonna do?

I went to buy a head saver shim for the temporary A14 I'm giving a birthday to untill I can afford new pistons for my blown A15.
And I'm told that they don't make them anymore! They rang the two places that supply them, and they are NLA. I even rang every parts place in town to see if anyone still had one in stock. None did.

WTF am I gonna do now? It'll cost HEAPS to get one made.

Ive read in mags of ppl using double head gaskets, no idea how long term reliable tho.

Two head gaskets=fail.

I can get a thicker gasket made, but that's waaaay more expensive than my beloved cheap off the shelf shims. It wouldn't be like MEGA expensive, but I'm not known for being a big spender. lol
Thats money that i'd rather put towards new pistons.

How thick we talking? cos I just bought some A14\15 head gaskets from the states and they're thicker looking than this monotorque kind I have

ACL in Brisbane is where they make the head gaskets. Back in the days of stone wheels I had some shims made up. It wasn't that expensive because they had the patern so it was a simple matter of stamping it out. If ACL still carry the A series paterns, I can't see why getting a shim should be so hard. I'd give them a shot, can't hurt!
