#1 Who enjoy's a refreshing home brewed beer.?
Pendles Posted on: 2009/4/21 11:48
Hey all, I've been getting into the home brewing thing for a couple of months now and really enjoying the results.(and the price)

Not really doing anything ground-breaking, just the supermarket kits so far.

Who else out there brews there own beer, or spirits?

Share your wisdom to help us all kill a few more brain cells a week.

Dave

ben510 is 'da man'.

He brew his homebrew in kegs. And he is never sober at Datnats (not sure about the QLD one this year)...

Don't try his Chilli Ginger beer though... it's Evil.

Yeah hope to move on to kegging soon.

Chilli ginger beer sounds great, it'd almost straighten you out while you were getting slammed.

pendles dont wait to long to venture into kegging it's so much easier
one of the best things for brewing i have bought is a fridgemate (look it up)a digital temp controller for a heater belt or fridge really good to keep your brew temps consistant and a bit lower for a better result.

here's a few pics of some of my set ups,it is a old esky now fitted with a tap and a small gas bottle(soda stream) on the back and has been fitted with old datsun 1600 door rubbers around the lid ,it even has a bottle opener on the side .
it holds a 12 litre keg and 8-9 long necks

I've been meaning to get into home brewing for ages. I would probably spend too much time testing the beers (for the sake of research of course )

I have been brewing for years, Good home brew is what real beer is ment to taste like, unlike most of the mass production crap avaliable. With home brew, you can taste a lot of the different flavours like hops, wheat, barly ect.

I brew 40L at a time, and use kegs not bottles. The fermenting takes about 7 to 10 days and gassing takes 2. Beer can be drunk straight away, but i prefer to let it settle for a week or two.

And its CHEAP

$40 for 40L.
OR
4.4 cartons for $40
OR
$9 per carton
OR
38c a stubby
