Datsun 5 speed reverse switch problem

Hi gurus,
has anyone successfully installed a 60a series 5 spd standard pattern gearbox without having to cut and fill up the reverse switch? Can the mount be drill without structurally compromising the tunnel? Any advice would be welcomed.

Yes, some people just cut the mounts off the tunnel and fit a new crossmember.
Most of us, including me, did not fit the reverse switch.
