#1 Carb adjusting help
LeDevil Posted on: 2009/5/4 22:44
So my Weber fell threw and I need to figure out how to adjust the stock carb to last me a little longer. So can anyone give me a walk thru on adjusting the stock carb?
Thanks LeDevil

You just adjust the idle speed, then the mixture. That's it.

1. Using a tachometer, adjust idle screw to 800 RPM
2. Adjust idle mixture to best idle. Readjust idle screw to 800 RPM is needed
3. Screw idle mixture in until it is running 750 RPM
You are done.

But if the carb is having problems, it is very complicated to troubleshoot. For example, the above doesn't fix anything if the ignition timing is off. Or if there is cracked hose.

Next time you are in Seattle, come on by and we can go over the Carb diagnoses together.

I'll toss my hat in the ring for helping you get your carb working. Looks like the weather may be nice on Saturday. We can run through the basic diagnostics to see whats not right. If the carb needs a refresh you should be able to get a carb rebuild kit from Thrifty automotive. It doesn't take long to go through one.

I'm in SE Portland. Is your car drivable?
