just wondering after talking with another member, would it be possible to arc weld 2 metal plates into the 1200sedan boot for the tow bar with a 1.5 mm rod, instead of 2mm one. can use 6mm or 3mm plate. was thinking of just some dags first like spot weld to get it in there.
dont really want to slpatter the arc and burn through the thin pannel

dont weld just have the tow bar bolt to where the bumper bar bolts up to on the chassis

Generally avoid trying to weld any thin "precious ;)" metals with an arc welder, mig or oxy on the other hand... go for it

tow bar has 4 mounting points. 2 wher bumper mounts up and 2 trough rear chasis rails underneath, theres even piolet holes in the chasis rails for them

the holes are where to bolt on not weld up. U need to go into the rails either right through the boot floor or from underneath, u cant just weld plate onto the boot floor to take towing.

if you use a 1.5mm rod you should be reasonably okay welding 3mm to 3mm but anything thinner than that and you going to get a lot of holes.

do it the right way bolt through chassis and spray
some fish oil inside the rails while you are at it.

i love fish oil... its great, especially if you spray it on with grease smeared on top of it, stops a lot of rust.

Use bolts. It's the best and safest way. When you bolt to the chassis and you have a hollow area you need to use ferals (steel tube) so that you don't crush the rails. And big washers. Or beter, squares of 3mm steel for washers. I thought that you were going to mention that you use the fish oil in your hair...
