Hey guys,
Looking at putting a h165 in my sedan. I searched the wikki and found some info. Can anybody tell me wat needs to modified with the tailshaft? Can i get a late model ute tailshaft and just bolt it in? If i want to mod my existing tailshaft to fit the h165 is it expensive? Any help is gud, thanks guys.

I sold my CA18 + H165 + sedan tailshaft to a mate with a CA18 + H165 + Ute. And worked fine.
This tells me that the Sedan and Utes, share the same distance from gearbox to centre of rear wheels. The difference is only in the 'nose length' of the diff unit. I do believe that a Ute tailshaft will fit into a sedan with a H165 fitted. Some quick measurements at the next Datsun Cruise would tell you for sure. Remember that the manual and auto gearbox tailshafts are different lengths.

yes a manual ute tailshaft will work fine in a manual sedan
and just incase you dont already know, you will also need to either weld sedan diff mounts onto the ute diff or weld on shock mounts for use in a sedan and the brake lines will also need to be swapped from the sedan diff onto the ute diff and a new splitter mount welded on handbrake cable coming from the diff will also need to be shortened for the sedan You can view topic.
