Just to start Bluebird sump or even 200b sump and oil pick up off the same motor, Stumpy stanza box 4 or 5 speed and Auto 1200 tailshaft, 120y H150 diff minimum i reckon, Thats what im headin for. L20b is a tall motor they go in with some fiddling mainly sump mods. We are going L16 then up to L18 with L16 head in Mr Hanky. Gotta mod or make new mounts on 1200 cross member. We are using mounts off a stanza cross member as recommended by PIGDOG. Hes one of the best guys to talk to about it and he keeps it practical.

ive got a whole L series setup that i'll sell with my L18

2L L18 with 95rwkw, built for rallying and cost over $7000 to build 4 years ago
L series crossmember, sits the engine very very low and as far back as it can be
R30 stumpy box with all new bearings
Tailshaft to suit H165 ute diff
180b gearbox crossmember, need to weld 180b mounts to the car and its all factory looking

pretty much everything out of my 1200 that i didnt reuse for the CA

PM for price

Tommo,
I did this conversion on my last coupe.
As Andy has said, i also used a stanza 5 spd and stanza sump with an L20.
I didn't have to mod the sump however.
For the crossmember, I cut the mounts down.
I used r30 skyline engine mounts.
I used a ute diff and a cut down tailshaft. (I didn't know about the auto tailshaft)
let me know if you need anymore info,
cheers
Bruce

did you notch the crossmember? coz an un modded sump would mean the engine is sitting really high
also can use L20b ruber mounts as they are smaller than R30 ones, meaning engine sits lower

mine with an L20b could still fit the stock carby and filter assembly with a 10mm spacer under the carby

and auto tailshaft only works with 1200 and 120y BW diffs, h145s and h150s as there was never any auto utes...so for a ute diff you need to cut down something else, stanza or bluebird tailshafts have the right ends

will it fit in a manual/auto 1200 or 120y tunnel

PIGDOG Posted on: 2009/5/31 13:21
ive got a 180b tunnel in my car which is the same size as a 120y tunnel, which is like a 1200 auto tunnel with a larger bellhousing section
