Is there a flywheel prob when fitting an a15

Hi All, Ive read the wiki but not sure if there is a prob here. Hopefully getting an a15 this weekend to fit into my B110 sedan, I have a ute crossmember and have changed the wiring for the altinater, there is no exorst fitted in the car and will run a freeflow so not a prob with the height differance. But is there a prob with the flywheel? the engine im looking at buying has,nt got a flywheel and I will use a standard 4 speed just to get the car going.
I guess my questions are, Is there any diff with the flywheel from a12 to a15, if so witch one do I use? if there is a diff will this create a prob with the starter motor? and do I have to fit an a12 flywheel to fit a 4 speed? Hope this is enough info Thanks in advance......

I believe they are interchangeable, the A12 one is lighter than the A15 too.

gday mate
this is my limited knowing of flywheels the a14 and a15 flywheels are thicker then the a12 the a12 flywheel is lighter if the bolt spacing is the same as a15 and a12 flywheel it should fit straight up ( im unsure about this ) but there is stories of guys using a14/15 engine with a12 flywheel due to its lighter weight so id say its the same as for the gearbox if your using the a12 F.W and standard 4 speed then you would use all the standard gear, (clutch, pessure placte, thrust bearing etc).. the starter motor mounts to the gearbox so using your a12 starter should also not cause any problems before putting it all together make sure the a15 you get has a spigot bush,, if its out of an auto car it wouldnt have one so if someone can answer the question.. is the flywheel bolt spacing for a12, a14 and a15 all the same? hope you can make some sense of all this cheers Jason edit: some of the questions were answered while i was writing my reply

If you use the thicker flywheel, make sure you use the correct thrust bearing carrier for that flywheel. If you run the wrong thrust bearing carrier, even with the clutch fully released the thrust bearing will still be pressed against the pressure plate far enough that the clutch plate wont be able to drive.

I have an A12 flywheel on my A15, bolt spacing is the same.
Good point re thrust bearing carrier A14force. If he's running A12 fly, clutch, bearing, starter and box, I suspect all will be well.

yea i got stung buy the flywheel problem just recently ... the A15 flywheel is thicker and you wont be able to get the clutch cable on if you use the wrong clutch fork and bearing carrier. some a12s also have a smaller pressure plate and the bolt pattern is different so i'd recommend just using the flywheel and clutch off the old motor

I'm running a A12 flywheel that was lightened to 3.8kg on a A14.
Bolt pattern is the same. The only problem I had was the release bearing. I had to extend the pivot point that the fork pushes on outwards to enable the bearing to move enough to disengage the clutch as I did not have different length release bearing carriers to play with. Hope this helps a bit.

The problem you're most likely to have is the B110 A12 flywheel bolts have a different pitch to the B210/310 A12 & A14/15 bolts. Hopefully the bolts for the A15 are still there, if not you might have to scavenge them from another motor. The bolts should run in by hand easily. If they only go in a short way & tighten up, they are the wrong pitch. Don't be tempted to run them in with a rattle gun, as this will make the crank unusable, by damaging the threads. There is also an offset bolt hole, so the flywheel can only go on in one position. If only 4 of the 6 bolts start in, it's the wrong position. keep turning the flywheel til they all go in. Naturally the right position would have been the first one you'd have got if you turned the flywheel the other way.
