supafatto Posted on: 2009/10/26 1:44
hi i've put my blown setup in and i'm having a few troubles, help need.
I need to no on a 32/36 wat jetting people run and wat emultion tubes.
Also wat people have done to dizzy to stop advance or regraph? I'm running a elec dizzy but i get to about 4000 rpm and it ping's have locked dizzy and backed timing off heaps!
And also if people have mod'd the acc pump on the carbi. In primary it's really good but if you trx boot it it just ping's and splatters. But it's still a nice setup and thanks to tommo it all went in in one long ass day.

All depends on what type of engine you are running and what your fuel delivery is. On my A14 I was using (2) 32/36 with 120's on the primaries and 140's on the secondaries but am running a 14 psi pump with a 5/16" fuel line.

I am done with the A14 and am moving up to the 2.4 Napz motor. I am guessing that I will just be upping the primaries until I get a good burn. We will see.

Quote:
wat people have done to dizzy to stop advance
1. Plug the vacuum advance line, and it won't advance. 2. Lock the distributor spinning weight and it won't advance.

Even so it will ping at high boost levels. You'll need either high octane fuel, or spark retard.

Just pull it all out and put a CA18 in it.

what static compression does the engine have?
have you got the water/methanol setup on it?
what sort of boost is it making?
what is your base timming set at?

lock dizzy as said ... run 98 octane ... you'll need bigger jets but just turn the mixture screw out and see if that helps the pinging

stick a wideband A/F meter on it, and see what your air fuel ratio is. Lean wont help none. I've experienced pinging at the same revs yours begins at too on old motors of mine. A trick you can do is lock your dizzy, and see how much total spark it can stand. Then pop rivit a clear plastic 360' school protractor to an old rotor button. Then hold the bottom of the dizzy shaft in a vise. twist the rotor and see how far it moves. remember that 1' at the dizzy is 2' at the crank pulley. Unlock your dizzy, and build up the slots with weld untill it's only able to mech advance to the max spark it could stand when your dizzy was locked. That way your engine isn't having to contend with too much advance in the lower rev range.

dont think he got the water meth setup going yet, and that may explain it.

nope no water meth in yet. We have locked the dizzy so it won't advance but no matter how much you retard it it's still pinging. Tommo said we should put a sniffer and see wats going on wit fule, as i'm still running stock pump and all of the motor is standed a12 round port. Lol i'm running 98 and bp5es plugs should i go colder? I'm running about 15 psi lol at 6000rpm no load cant tell i think around 10 at 4000 then it ping's
