bonnet scoop for top mount intercooler, for rally cars its the better place than the front because less mud and damage.

We call it a bonnet scoop in australia. On the wrx, it uses the low pressure area to push air through the top mounted turbo intercooler on top of the boxer 4 cylinder engine

it sucks air into the engine bay... im not too sure on rexys but i know on standars rx7 turbos the intercooler is on top of the engine and it forces air into the intercooler...

it forces air 'across' the intercooler, through the core, not into it. same priciple as a radiator.

Yeah top mount intercooler as standard and its just an air scoop to let the air flow through the intercooler and exit under the car. Early scoobs had scoops that just cooled the turbo.
