pepper

so, i have a spare head laying around and need help in identifying it.
i dont have any pics, but i went and took some measurements. ive been thru the wiki and cant find anything close. dd or dodgeman might be able to give the good oil on this. no casting numbers, just - NISSAN JAPAN large oval ports - 39x30mm exhaust ports - 29x27mm inlet valve - 35mm exhaust valve - 29mm its got the double valve springs also. ive had a real good look at the ports and they are stock. they have not been modified in any way, its still got the casting texture all the way to the edge. any ideas??

If you are selling, it is a REAL GX.
If you are buying, it may not be. See the Cylinder Head Identification guide. Yes it will take some work to figure it out. From your brief description it most likely is an A12 GX head, or an A12T head.

Are the inlet ports higher on the head(closer to the rocker gear) than the garden variety oval port head?

the water holes are big, all four equal size.
i dont know if the inlet ports are higher than another oval port or not, i have another similar head at my brothers house that i may go over and measure this arvo. its on what i assume to be its original 12 block. the head also measures 74mm thick.

Those features all add up to an A12T head, which is better because it will work unmodified on early and late engines. GX head needs modification to work on newer engines.

Good score! The seats should be able to be opened up to take the bigger A14/15 valves too.
