#1 Nay's 1200 ute build
DA75EZ Posted on: 2010/4/7 9:07
just thought i would start a build thread for my mrs ute.
now long story short,,,,
we got the car in pieces from a bloke in sydney for $2500 about 12 months ago. she's always loved 1200's and sold her beloved pink charade to have one. we had to remove all the old rusty panels, carry out rust repairs, and then weld in all the new panels. then we prepped it for paint, sprayed it a pearl white. next step was to airbrush a tribal design on the body, as she did a airbrushing course at tafe. we've now finished the body, and its currently waiting to be picked up so we can start putting the pieces back together. got a complete custom interior to go in, 120y struts/brakes and 16" chrome rims to suit. will be plenty of updates to come and should be on the road in about a month, fingers crossed |X|

got the ute back from the painter through the week.
have got all the lights back in, front end and starting on the interior next week.
got all new tan bucket seats, carpet, roof lining, etc to go in. and then gunna get the dash trimmed in matching tan.
we've got a rather large 2 unit dvd player/screen to go in aswell and as the heater box is already out we're planning on installing those 12v heaters, does anyone know where to get them from?
have been rushed lately so havent been able to get any photos
but all is looking pretty good at this stage

Nice restoration job!

Were did you order you panels from? I need to get 2 quarters, 2 rocker/sills, 2 tail light trim, a lower beaver and tail gate. Only place i've found that had them all was ebay but they wouldn't ship to the US.

got the exhaust and roof lining done through the week. get the dashpad and sunvisors back this week.
a lot of fiddling around to be done at the moment.
fitted the seats and to my absolute suprise they bolted straight onto the standard 1200 rails
next job is to fit the carpet and put all the interior together.

attempted to fit some 120y struts we had, but for some reason didnt bolt straight in. so we gunna swap the strut tops around and all should be sweet.
probably end up getting some lowered springs aswell cos the struts are actually longer than standard 1200!
also got some lowering blocks to fix up the height of the rear end.

as i said lots of fiddling around to be done, getting a bit frustated with how long the simple things take!
