#1 Having 13 " Wheels instead of 12"
Sumith Posted on: 2010/5/7 11:43
Hi Guys

It is very difficult to find and buy 12" Tires and wheels here, if i put 165/70/13 or 165/80/13 instead of 155/80/12
what would be the other effects , i might have bit different meter reading ,will there be any other considerable effects on performance or fuel consumption ?

Thanks
Regards
sumith

Shouldn't be much difference, how is fatherhood treating you, are you getting any sleep? It will get better!

No, I meant the baby crying, sleepless nights, changing nappies, waking up at all hours of the night etc. It all seems to go away so quickly, they grow up so fast. Might seem like a strange thing to say but enjoy it while you can.

Good Topic.

About 3 months ago at the Datsun Club meeting, I heard here in Australia it's now almost impossible to get 12 inch tyres. So the people with 'stock wheels' might be on the look out for 13 inch ones soon.
I'd prefer to stay with 12 inch, so I can use my new set of hubcaps. Thanks Mr 2332.

Maybe I need to get a garage and start storing some spares for the future.

With any luck.. the electric cars will become more popular, and the 12 inch tyre will come back in fashion.

I've been quoted about $100 per tyre for 12 inch.

Sumith sorry this took so long but the difference from 155/80-12 to 165/70-13 is going to be about 100 less RPM's at 100 KPH, the 13 inch is slightly taller / larger. Your speedo will also read about 2-3kph less than what your actual speed.

I did this on my Mazda Protege, I went to a 60 sereis profile (from 50) to get a better ride in the car. The car revs 75-100 RPM's less and the Speedo is off just a bit. Not a big deal.
