would 16x8inch fit on the front of a 1200 ute, considering the gaurds have been pumped a little

Sure would. But would the 16" tire fit in the wheel well?

15x8" fit on the front, with 45-50 profile tyres, anything bigger ie 55 will rub under lock on firewall, rolled my front guard slightly and modified leading edge to help hide them

16 x 7 will fit if its the right offset and a low profile tyre 16 x 8 wont

Yeah 7's with positive offset, low to low negitive if guards are pumped. i got 14x7.5 -14? with stanza struts and it hung out about 2 inches. stanza struts gave it more track so made it hang out more than standard 1200 struts.
my opinion would go 15's max let us know how it goes with 16's if you are doing so

there are alot of variables, struts type, ride hieght, ball joint type, castor settings, tyre size.camber settings.
but 16 by 8 are pretty big for 1200.i reckon you will ruin your steering unless u run skinny tyres. You can view topic.
