Had a weird problem this morning. Started the car and it behaved as if it had the throttle stuck down. It was revving to about 4K without my foot on the throttle.

I tried fiddling with the throttle linkage and pedal and it didn't seem to help. Then I tried messing with the choke - pushing the cable forward at the carby end. Started it up again and it was fixed - for now.

Any ideas on this one? I find it hard to believe it was just a stuck choke as it revved to 4K from a cold start...

i had it happen on my old ute, was a worn accel cable that jambed in the sheath.

could be anything you have described.

secondary was stuck open slickly maybe, they stick sometimes well mine does.try lube the pivot point the wieght arm thingy.
