Tailshaft rubbing

Hey guys just wondering if you have run into this problem before too? I've lowered my ute that far that the tailshaft hits the back wall of the cab where the trans tunnel meet. Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on it for me? Also wondering how the jap guys get there sunny trucks so low did the long bed urea come with a two piece tail shaft or what? Thanks guys

I can confirm that the long beds here in NZ had a two piece tail shaft.
Also had the issue of lowering my coupe so much that the driveshaft hit. I made up spacers for the gearbox and that solved the problem.

So the gearbox is further from the back of the engine??

To solve this problem, raise up the rear axle just a touch.
Japan market utes used a one-piece tailshaft except for longbed models.

Sorry I mean raise the rear body back up a little. You can probably keep the front low.

Make up spacers of around 10mm and put on the gearbox mount between the floor and the box. This will move the box away from the body which also helps the drive shaft move away from the floor.

10mm probably won't be enough as I want to go much much lower so I'm thinking I may have to cut the metal off the trans tunnel and weld in a higher piece in it's place

Thats the go Nathan,if you start throwing spacers between the box and the floor(of significant size)you end up having pinion angle issues...keep it all as straight as possible
