how many of you have installed your own windshields? I've got a brand new one to go in & I'm gonna be really peeved if I F it up in the process. I'm temped to pay a pro shop to do it but thought I'd check & see what folks thought about degree of difficulty of job.

DD, you ever done one - want to help??

Did my first in my rally car after the bonnet flew up, weren't to worried about paint etc but was an easy enough job.

Need a mate and some strong thin cord.

Fit the rubber to the glass and then run the cord in the outer groove, I usually have the cord loose ends at the centre top and start from there.

Lay the screen in place and have a mate apply light pressure to where you are working and then slowly start pulling the cord, using it to flip the rubber over the metalwork, work it all the way round and before you know it, you're done!

and thats exactly what you will be paying pros to do...theres nothing really hard about it. getting screens out is a little harder

I concur with ssskiwi, with emphasis on "apply light pressure".
I had my wife help pulling the cord while I was pushing down. I applied "heavy" pressure to a stuborn corner and cracked it. I should have just pulled it out and started over.

Anyways, I've installed the front and back glass about 4 other times, like kiwi described, with success.

Also, it was helpfull to have the dash out. The bottom part of the seal is difficult to access.

If I remember right, don't the A pillar covers & the headliner tuck under the window seal? Is that a before or after the windows in install?

Thanks.

Usually the headliner etc is actually folded over the metal lip, so as you flip the window rubber over the lip it should be OK.

guess that means I need to put the head liner in first huh!
