#1 How to test a clock...
edp Posted on: 2011/2/20 1:45
Is there anything special about testing a clock or is it just a straight 12V connection to the leads - one ground & one positive?

I picked up a clock & want to see if its working.
Thx.
Evan

Most car clocks will also have a third wire, that is used to dim the light when the healights are on if its digital, or to turn on a light if its analog.

You may or may not need to have iot hooked up. Its usually also a 12v feed, so you can just twitch it to the positive for the clock unit.

But yeah, one to earth the other to 12v positive (assuming its a 12v unit.)

The 1200 clock has a third wire, which goes to the Red/Black wire hanging down from the harness. This is the constant-Hot wire. If you wire to IGN, it only runs when the key is on

when you say 3rd wire I assume you mean the blue one? I am missing the 2 lightbulb wires.

If it doesn't work has anyone had any luck repairing one?
