#1 a15 pros?

might seems a little obvious but i would like to know a few things about a15's.

backstory!
- picked up an a15 down here in tas and its currently sitting in he corner of the shed doing nothing but gathering dust.
- i dont have anything to put it in just yet
- looking at this 1200 coupe which is completely stock! (and auto.. eww.) matching numbers and all.
- would be using it as a daily.

so question time!
1. when was the a15's made?
2. because it is made in 19xx year, does it need the fuel additive? (like this stock coupe does and its a bitch!)
3. would it be wiser for the resale value of the coupe to keep the original motor (and just change it to manual) or put the a15 in?
4. obviously performance would be beter with the a15, but by how much?
5. would it be beter just to weber, extrator and what not the a12 and sell off the a15?
6. anything else?

why the additive? if it pings with unleaded adjust the timing to suit spend a couple of bucks on the a15 head to suit unleaded i think they just change the valve guides and then weber, extractors, ignition etc thats my opinion anyway but im no mechanic!

or wrong spark plug grade. nissan recommend BP5ES, BP6ES, BP7ES

1. Anywhere from 1978 to 1998, even as recent as the 21st century.

2. No, shouldn't need it some people have installed it but it does nothing to improve performance. Run it on standard pump fuel like it was designed for. If you're really paranoid (about whatever it is that makes you want one) then sure run one.

3. It's always good to keep the original motor as a package that comes with the car, but I would think a bigger capacity engine would be more desirable especially if it has more power. Keep the original motor so when you sell it the two stay together (car + motor).

4. A15 Carb model makes 80hp, A15EGI Makes 92hp

5. Up to you, all A-series require alot of cash to get good power but once you get there they are very fun to drive.

They have been using unleaded for ages in Japan, don't worry about using unleaded in the A15, wont hurt it.

I would put the A15 and a manual box in the coupe add some headers and twin carbs and your set.

been using unleaded since forever in malaysia. and yes, i can buy a brand new nissan vanette c22, so i would say, a15 is still being produced. c22 in malaysia is carburetted though, else i would able to have an injection setup for cheap :)

6: Go the coupe if the price is right...auto tunnel is sought after for folks that want to put bigger engines than a15 (CA18 SR20).

Good to see a member from Hobart here (planning on relocating there next year).

Saw a stock mint sedan in Sandy Bay when I was down there last...owner reckoned he paid $150 for it!!!
