Twice in the last 6 months I've been teased by PERFECT 1200 utes that I desperately want to buy but just can't nail them!
The first one I've seen twice now. It has one tiny dent in the drivers door and one on the bonnet but NO rust all. He'd lined the ute floor with a piece of 6 ply so it was like new underneath! It'd been garaged its whole life and it shows. I made him an offer and he said he'd take it but got all twitchy and never came back!
The second one was today an old fella came into my dealership looking at a new Ford Ranger to replace his IMMACULATE 1200 ute! It even has a sunroof in it. Good for me, I could stick my head out of it! Anyway, and this one was a 1985 model and was just amazing. Both have been red ones and a bit faded which you expect from red. Body wise both just needed to be seen to be believed!
I offered to buy the one today but unfortunately (for me)he's giving it to his son (who's 50 odd) and has plans of putting an A14 in it. I just can't believe that I've been teased to such epic proportions with no joy!
Anyone else been in this situation where you just can't quite nail down your dream car even though it's right there for the taking???

Maybe you should offer them more than the $150.

I'm in new cars so totally undodgy! On Sundays. Or public holidays. Seriously, my customers in Melbs northern suburbs are a whole lot shiftier than we are!!

Surely my comment doesn't come across like I'm being a prick! I even put a smiley face. I'm sure Shoota is a top bloke, but I'm also sure that some layers and real estate agents are nice peoplt too. And not to discriminate but I rate all three in the same basket. I should know, deep down I'm a salesman, and I've been told I'll never be a good used car salesman because, get this, I'm too honest!!! Who'd have thought...

Seriously, customers are so much worse than we are. Of course as salespeople we manipulate certain information in order to make a sale. A perfect example is where we may overplay the availability of a certain model to increase the buying desire and make the customers make a quicker decision. At my dealership that is pretty much the limit of truth manipulation we use.
Our dealership is in the top 10 in the country for customer satisfaction so honesty is integral to our daily culture. Other dealerships may not possess the same ethics however. And bodgy car yards are totally different. They're selling what they know is crap and selling it as though it is good.
I stand by my original statement the customers are worse than us. Customers will straight out lie just to get a better price. Let's say they have a price of $33000 from another dealership. They will come to us and lie to our faces and tell us they have had a price of $30000. Do they get a bad reputation? Nope.
It #OOPS#s me when people say "I hate salespeople". Don't #OOPS#ing buy anything then!!!!!!!!
That's my one and hopefully only rant for the day!!

only thing i dont like is when they wont leave you alone.... lol
