I use a stock ca18 rad and fits easily. Fan on the front though. Also depends what engine and how set up. There's no clear and standard rule for it

I bought the civic one because it lines up with the existing hole and has an extra row so maybe 30-40% more cooling and a larger heat capacity so will soak up bigger short spikes.
Haven't gotten as far as putting it in yet. I did get an OEM fan for it for $20-30 off ebay which will fit once the fan and so on is gone from the water pump but I'm going to an electric pump. I've also got an a15 so the thing will probably be a bi overkill but I have dreams of turbo so I wanted it big enough for when I finally get that project going.... Other things to consider is the inlet and outlets are 32mm and where they line up with the thermostat. The inlet lines up with the cyclinder head (more or less).

You cab always stretch the hose over 34 and 36mm inlets and outlets, 5 to 19 sec max in the microwave and grab a towel and push it over the rad pipe.
The hose gets hit and retains heat and is playable for about 30 sec. Don't zap it any longer, tends to melt it too much and it doesnt recover very well to stay water tight.

When I turboed my B310 I used a 300ZX radiator that I cut and welded one of the tanks so that it would just fit in between the chassis rails and then it would clear the bonnet by 15mm. It was huge and with 24psi, 28* timing and water injection the temp. guage only read 1/5 crusing, after a bit of spirited driving it would be at about 1/3 and then racing it would just hit 1/2 (on a hot day).
So yeah it was too big (with a stock thermostat), but it worked. Next time I would use a CA18 one I think.

This one fits in under bonnet keeps A12 with 12psi cool but outlets prob wrong for CA or L series motor pretty good quality for price You can view topic.
