i have asked about this before but i've rang my local nissan to get a steering column bush but again they say its no longer available and the guy i spoke to got quite angry, i even give him the part number(48910-H1021) but he swears that they are no longer available? what gives? has the later model aussie utes got a different part number, maybe i should try another nissan dealer? its doing my head in!

It is orderable from Japan, but they might 'cancel' the order. If your dealer has recently tried, he might know the latest from Japan. Or perhaps your parts dealer is mistaken.

Nissan is not managing the availability list very well.

its just so frustrating, people on here have obvously bought these from nissan in the past,and the guy i spoke to was telling me that they sell NO datsun parts and got #OOPS#ty when i gave him the part number, i don't think he even looked it up! he waqsn't interested i don't think. maybe a peice of nylon is the way to go?

I too have difficulty getting small parts recently from a couple of different Nissan dealers, and they were for a CA18/SR20 still current stock! As a rule I have found the salespeople disinterested and borderline rude. I do have some idea of how these places operate and can somewhat sympathise with the position of a salesperson with a full plate and having to take a disproportionate amount of time for such a small item. But at the end of the day, these parts have to come from somewhere, and the impression they leave on me at the end of the day just might make a difference when I decide to buy a new car one day.

bush is still available(bought one about 3 months ago). pretty sure number supercedes to the later one that fits both(please correct me if i'm wrong).
i've found best if you talk to the oldest guy there (make conversation about other stuff)they will search down the obscure part number, knowing that while they're looking up the old parts, the young(usually unknowledgable), impatient, seemingly self important guy is getting frustrated looking up badge part numbers for the nearest panel shop.

interestingly enough i went to a nissan dealer for jets for my carb with part number and he swears that datsun parts are non existent to get from nissan now and yet I am told by people on the forum you can get part from nissan?

So tell them it is a Nissan part, which is true. Don't mention Datsun.

I gave up trying to get one and just made my own ..probs cost me 5$ and half an hour on a lathe ....works a treat ....

I'm pretty sure maddat have started to sell steering column bushes. Check their website and let us know if you buy one how it fits
