sunny b120 restoration project.

Its my first project car a 1990 nissan sunny b120 pick-up truck. In my country, the Philippines, these trucks came out in the late 80's until the mid 90's.What we have is the long body square framed lights sunny. Not much b120's can be seen on our roads since this model was not as popular as compared to the newer looks and better features of other trucks during the time it was out in the market. For those who purchased these trucks were used as delivery utes by softdrink dealers and was also used as service vehicles by our local telephone company. they were really used hardcore, making it hard to find a good unit. it took me months until I finally found one.
The unit i got had panels still in their original condition although obviously battered. paint was bad and rusting in some areas, which was acceptable and engine was ok based on a quick test drive. Im not expecting much from it so i got the unit and drove it down to the shop. and the restoration started a month later. i have updates in my facebook account since my picture files are quite big to be loaded here http://www.facebook.com/pages/My-Sunn ... res/257325374647?sk=notes i'd be glad to hear your comments. thanks

welcome jose, love the B120. It took me years to find mine as they were not sold in USA.

My goal for this project is to bring it back to a new looking all stock ride(car show quality). I will maintain an all original look except for the grill since i want to achieve the 1978 look which has the round lights. Such grill is not available in the Philippine market so i have to order it from either Japan, Thailand, or Australia.
Here is my cars condition when i got it. the stock a12 engine was there. radiator cap came from a cheese spread company, the carb cover was still intact interior was complete with clock and radio, although the dash had some cracks and holes in the middle. we had the brown interior and the circular gauges, console was there but needs to be refurbished. no rear view mirror and no gear boot. the earlier models had the ugly looking utility bumpers which encases the signal lights and later in 1995 replaced it with the better looking bumpers but painted not chrome.

here are some of the utes that i came across during the search.
1. yellow customized double cab b120. 2. truck used for glass, aluminum. (wanted to buy his bumpers to be scraped of and chromed) 3. distorted pic. This look came from the factory, it has a small canopy extension at the back. 4. yellow truck. a bit of extension was made to compliment the height of the owner. 5. The 1st b120 i saw in a car show.

It is nearly identical to Datsun 1200 Coupe grille, though the truck version was all silver and the coupe version had part painted black. The round headlights and buckets (headlamp mounting pats) come straight from B110, B210 and early B310. Informatikon on converting: Grille

sir, thanks for that info re grill in silver color for the 78 look.anyway
what kind of dash did the 71-77 use? was the round dash used somewhere in those years or just the rectangular guages? You can view topic.
