Pretty sure the registered owner at time of defect has to be the one to get the defect removed. Also thought it was against the law to sell a defected motor vehicle. Tried to buy a coupe some time back in Adelaide regency told me the seller had to do the above before selling.

This ute used to live about 10 houses up the road from me.
Sounds a bit sus with 'not going and no inspections' She is a rough old thing for 160k lol
