rear gearbox? You can convert the 120Y to rear engine by bolting the entire Pulsar front engine/suspension into the back of the 120Y, it will be all custom fabrication, but is certainly possible.

You need to find out what the bolt pattern is of the CA16. Then you can work out what you can modify to fit it. The chances of a RWD CA being the same are remote, but stranger things have happenned.

vanettes never came with ca only the GA which is different as it closer to the E and A series in that order.

aha my i read vanette somewhere sorry.

ca16de same as the 18 and 20 versions
ca18de/t or ca20s/e bellhousings with stumpy 71b box is what most peeps do

But how is that going to put the gearbox in the rear? Or if he means RWD gearbox there's a problem as the FWD CA engines have a different bell-pattern than RWD CA engines.

The good thing unlike the SR engines all the CA engines whether fitted on fwd or rwd, even the diesel ca17dt will bolt up to any fwd or rwd box. The pattern is exactly the same on all of them and Nissan department in charge of the CA where smart to use distributorless ignition to avoid dizzie issues.

Patterns are same, but transmissions are different

Or is this incorrect?
* CA16 uses a smaller clutch & gearbox
* CA18 & CA20 use a factory adapter plate & larger tranmission
