thinking about doing a de+t on my already ca18de wagon and was wondering what i would need to do. i know i will need a decompression plate and the turbo and manifold and a micro tech or det computer. is there anything else. how different
are the de and det blocks and internals etc.

pfft, decomp plate....that just kills all the fun
stock DET parts you need: Turbo + Manifold turbo oil line and 90 degree adaptor for the block Injectors ECU Loom, or wire the resistor pack into existing loom and change injector plugs thats about all i can think of now, all the important sensors seem to be the same, temp sender is a different colour but dont know if it sends a different signal or not You will need to make up the water lines to the turbo as the DE block doesnt have the hole tapped into the block to suit the stock lines Then there is the obvious cooler and piping, exhaust ect No need for a decomp plate if you are just running stock boost, mine was running 7psi. all the decomp plate will do is make it a lower performing engine and less fun to drive internals are the same, det has oil squirters and 8.5:1 comp pistons compared to the DE 9.5 The block is just missing the tapped hole for one of the water lines to the turbo, and a couple of the hoses on the engine are a little different to suit the turbo water lines

i was thinking of doing the same
i hadn't thought about the water lines though, good point, there is a place to get the oil supply to turbo? i would also think you need the DET sump to drain the oil back in from the turbo

Can't you do the punch a hole in sumo and a barbed fitting of sorts?

sure but the sump needs to come off to get any metal filings etc out when you do that, so may as well put the proper CADET one back on

all the holes for water and oil are there but need to change sump for oil drain

i have a det engine here but if i dont have to swap the whole lot and everything is the same except the few things mentioned then what the hell. more compression = more fun. are the det and de gearboxes the same.

More compression on a CA18DE = detonation when combined with turbo. You have to tune it with an aftermarket chip or microtech (or similar).

Buy a nistune tool.
You're deluding yourself if you think standard DET maps will work perfectly with a plus T. So long as you keep the boost reasonable, the higher compression will be okay. Also the turbo will spool faster due to the higher compression.

your best of just putting a det motor in, there's to much f'n around converting a n/a to turbo. depending what intercooler setup your going to put in you'll most likely have to take the motor out anyway if you have to cut the rad support or anything
