a14 injected turbo with 10psi. i don't know the history of the engine only that it has a wild cam (don't know specs) in it, pointless for a turbo i know. my question is how high could i set the rev limiter if we assume the bottom end is stock... it was at 4900 soft and 5200 hard but i've since increased those by 500rpm and it went heaps better. cheers

intercooled?what is your ignition setup ,its probably set that low for a reason,any more info?

water to air cooler, 4 sti coil packs haltech computer and dizzy hall effect pickup. we set it like that to be on safe side but because of the cam it only starts making power at 4000rpm, its boosting from about 2000. building new motor but thats a while away.

put a standard block in?just have a go if she blows she blows,no sign of engine knock atm?

A14 stock redline is 6000 rpm. Although they can often rev to 6400 or so before the valves float.
With a "wild" cam, higher RPM is better.

just see if shes losing boost at i higher rpm thats all that going to happen i think with the cam being so 'wild'

well it didn't let go...i set it at 6000 and it was pulling until it cut out. i think that'll do for this motor. cheers

There is no probs with having a bit of a cam in your turbo A12. It seams the turbo is fairly small if its boosting at 2k. Turbo restriction could be an issue when you rev it up a bit. There is a couple of ways to improve things.
A larger turbo will help by freeing up the exhaust and preventing too much reversion because of the hot cam. This will also help prevent detonation. Going to a smaller cam will also help prevent reversion, but will cost power. I run a huge cam on my turbo A12 and it loves it. I turn it to 7500 RPM with standard bottom end. When i had a standard cam, power would fall off at 6000RPM You should be able to turn it to 7k+ , especially if it has uprated valve springs. But the small turbo may be limiting power up that high. If is only a cruiser, maybe go back to a standard cam and keep it to 6k. If you want more from it, keep the cam and go a bit bigger on the turbo. Keep us posted, I love turbo A series engines!
