Diverter Valve Delete

So, my damn diverter valve rusted and fell of. Now my car sounds like a boat. I put some water weld around it a week or so ago, and that held for a while but now its coming apart again. I believe i've seen a few pictures of guys plugging the whole up all together but that seems kinda iffy to me. Anyway, if anyone has a cheap DIY solution I would appreciate it. I dont really wanna pay $100+ for a new one.

You mean the Heat Riser? Nissan calls it the Heat Control Valve.
For a "delete", what most do is twist the flap off the shaft. Or use a cutting torch to get it off. As long as the shaft is still there, it won't leak. If the shaft is gone, tap some little plugs in there. You can buy generic plugs at an auto parts store. Or you could hammer some short bolts in there. I'd use a xtreme high-temp epoxy, not JB Weld, but a 2000 degree putty. ![]() OR, go to Pick-n-Pull and get a heatless Exhaust Manifold for $40 ![]() Your fuel economy will go down if you run the heatless or "delete". The heatless is designed for work with a water-heated intake manifold/head combo.

Nope, I dont think that's it. I'll have to find a picture. Its above the thermostat housing.

That's an old photo, most the emissions stuff is gone now. The valve just had a small air filter on it (i obviously dont know what im doing). Thats the part that fell off. I didnt think it was a good idea to plug it up but it doesnt go to anything now.

Nissan calls that the air injection Check Valve.
Most just unscrew it and put a pipe plug in it. No one sells a delete kit. ![]() Others leave a bit of the hose on it and jamb a LARGE bolt in it. ![]() The most elegant solution is to replace the Thermostat Housing with a non-air injection kind. ![]() You can view topic.
